The notebook consists of two parts: the public part can be accessed without a password, the private part is encrypted, it requires entering a password to be able to be opened and used.

Tree Notebook has an iOS mobile counterpart (iPhone and iPad devices). Data can be synced between the Windows computer and up to three iOS devices over a local Wi-Fi network. No internet access is needed to sync.

Tree Notebook maintains a multi-level hierarchy of folders and notes in the form of a tree. Any folder can include notes and other folders, and so on the room. Any item (a note or a folder) can include text of any size. Additionally, items can save attachments such as images or other files.

Tree Notebook has useful navigation tools: three separate panels for the entire tree, the current folder in the tree, the current item in the folder, the status line that indicates the current position in the tree, the History and Favorites lists that make it easy to return to recently or frequently visited articles.

The application supports fast global search (simplified or conditional) and also local search within the text of an item.
