Resource Monitor description and review

Resource Monitor is a system application on Microsoft Windows operating systems. It is used to view information about the use of hardware resources (CPU, memory, disk and network) and software (file and module identifiers) in real time. Resource Monitor is only available in Windows Vista and later versions (in Windows Vista, it is known as Reliability and Performance Monitor). Resource Monitor can be started by running resmon.exe (perfmon.exe in Windows Vista). It was also in Windows 95, 95 OSR, 95 OSR2, 98, 98SE, ME and NT….

The Resource Monitor window includes five tabs:

Overview: displays basic information about the use of system resources.

CPU shows column lists of processes, services, associated handlers, and associated modules; CPU usage graphs (separate for each core)

Memory shows the total physical memory consumption and the separate consumption of each process; graphs of physical memory used, commit load and hard faults / sec

Disk shows processes with disk activity, disk activity and storage; graphs of disk usage (KB / sec) and disk queue length

Network shows processes with network activity, network activity, TCP connections, and listening ports; graphs of network usage (separate for each adapter) and TCP connections
