The Live system that you create will be able to boot from a CD-ROM or disk device, for example a USB flash drive, a USB memory stick, a camera connected to the USB port, etc. People also use Linux Live Kit to boot Linux from iPod.

How to build a live distribution: 1) Install your favorite distribution on the disk partition or in a folder on your existing system. Debian is recommended but not required. 2) Make sure the aufs and squashfs kernel modules are compatible with your kernel. Debian Jessie has included both automatically. You may need to install the aufs-dkms package on newer versions of Debian. 3) Now remove all unnecessary files (for example, man pages and all other files you don’t need), to make your Live Linux system as small as possible (this step is optional). It is recommended to remove persistent network rules from udev and other settings from your distribution, which may prevent it from working properly on dissimilar hardware. 4) Download the Linux Live Kit from github and put it in / tmp Read files in ./DOC/ to learn how it works (this step is optional) Edit the .config file if you need to modify some variables 5) Finally log in as root and run the script ./build.
