LibreTime description and review

LibreTime is a radio station automation system that supports webcasting. It is built as a community fork of SourceFabric’s Airtime radio station automation system. Provides a web interface where you can upload tracks and organize them to play at specific times through a schedule. The software also allows different users to take on roles like DJ, Program Manager, and Administrator with various permission levels. For example, you can assign a DJ to a certain time slot and you can log in and load shows only during that time slot. In addition, there is live streaming with user-based authentication where a user can only stream during their assigned presentation times….

Beyond this, LibreTime also provides automatic podcast downloading and scheduling and enables other advanced automation with a metadata-based track selection system called smartblocks. It allows you to select certain tracks in your library to play based on a variety of options like genre, duration, and even BPM. Additionally, LibreTime has the ability to automatically rebroadcast other stations via webcasts.

At this time we still consider LibreTime alpha level software because there is a lot of development in progress and we have not resolved all the bugs yet. In the near future, our goal is to release a beta version 3 and then possibly a stable version. It is completely self-hosted, but can be configured on a VPS running Ubuntu 16.04 or higher (the alpha.7 version that will be released soon will be compatible with Ubuntu 18.04 and higher). You’ll want at least 1GB of RAM on your server, as LibreTime runs with many services like rabbitMQ, Postgresql, Apache, Liquidsoap, and Python scripts.
