FilterJS description and review

FilterJS is a node-based procedural texture generator, which means it will compose your filter, generator, or algorithm to make a texture, whatever, from special blocks. Each filter has two unique blocks: an input image and an output image. The latter must always be connected to something.

Each node has input pins on the left side and output pins on the right. Connect the output pins with the input pins with the mouse. Each pin is also color-coded based on its type. Only pins of the same type can be connected directly, although most types will be converted automatically if you try to connect them.

All the available blocks are listed in the left panel, which is divided into: – Atomic Math is for performing simple arithmetic operations; – Channel Math includes similar operations that apply to each pixel in a channel; – Channels include split / join channels for / from RGB and HSV; – Composition allows you to mask and mix things; – Drawing allows you to draw simple shapes; – Fills include solid and gradient fills; – Entries allow you to set numeric, color-coded, and Boolean values for your filter; – The noise section includes Perlin and Simplex noise generators; – Processing includes generic photo settings and some advanced ones; – The utilities include some functions that can be useful when dealing with complex filters. For now, it contains only one block: getting the aspect ratio of an image.
